- Continue saving for college.
- Review your high school coursework and activity plans from now until graduation.
- Make sure you are taking courses appropriate for your college and career interests, and courses that will meet your high school graduation and college admission requirements.
- Maintain a high GPA.
- Continue involvement in extracurricular activities.
- Attend college and career fairs offered by your school and in your community.
- Attend sessions with college representatives who visit your high school.
- Plan to take the PSAT in the fall.
- Check with the colleges on your list about specific testing requirements (ACT or SAT).
- Register for and take the ACT and/or SAT I/SAT II.
- Put together a list of colleges you would like to attend.
- Start to search for scholarship opportunities, no later than February.
- Make a file of materials collected from schools and those distributed by your counseling center.
- If you are seeking an athletic scholarship, let your high school coach know of your interest. Also, make contact with the appropriate coaches at the schools of your choice; include a summary of your accomplishments.
- Begin to prepare essays for college admissions and scholarship applications.
- Over the summer, consider taking a trip to visit some of your college choices if you have not already done so.
- Complete your portfolios, audition tapes, writing samples, or other evidence of talent required for admission or for scholarships.
