Scholarships and grants are forms of FREE money, which is definitely something to look into if you're planning on going to college. Scholarships, like grants, do not need to be repaid. You'll find scholarships offered by organizations such as your state and local government, local business and other nonprofit associations. You may need to meet certain criteria to qualify for a scholarship, such as your academic record in high school, your extracurricular activities, certain talents you possess or even membership in local religious or other organizations.
There are many resources for locating scholarships you may be eligible for; they can be found on the Internet, at your high school counseling office, and even at libraries. If you or your family members belong to organizations providing college scholarships, be sure to apply if you are eligible. Start the search process early, and you'll have a better chance of qualifying for a particular grant or scholarship before someone else does!
